Passive homes utilize triple-pane insulated glass units (IGUs) filled with noble gases like argon or krypton, paired with thermally isolated frames. While standard windows typically feature double-pane glass, standard air fills, aluminum or metal spacer bars, and a U-value between 0.30 and 0.50, passive house windows feature triple-pane glass, argon or krypton gas fills, warm-edge composite spacer bars, and an ultra-insulating U-value of 0.14 or lower.

Drafts aren't just uncomfortable; they are a primary source of energy loss and structural moisture damage.
