UAE Diesel Price Today (August 2026): AED 3.80 Per Litre — Here's the Full Breakdown

Diesel in the UAE right now will cost you AED 3.80 a litre — and if you glance at the full board for August 2026, here's what everyone's paying:

Fuel Type Price (AED/Litre)
Diesel 3.80
Super 98 3.60
Special 95 3.49
E-Plus 91 3.41

Notice diesel's sitting at the top of that list. That's not new — diesel price in uae almost always costs a bit more than petrol here, mostly because of how it's refined and moved around.

So why exactly AED 3.80?

Here's the honest answer: nobody in the UAE just picks a number and sticks with it. Every month, the Fuel Price Committee sits down and looks at what's happening with crude oil globally, and that pretty much decides everything.

Right now, as of today:

  • Brent Crude is trading around $79.93 a barrel — up a little, about 0.60%
  • WTI Crude is close to $75.28 a barrel, also inching up

Both have been creeping upward lately, and that's basically the whole reason diesel jumped from AED 3.60 in July to AED 3.80 in August. Crude goes up globally, and within a month, you feel it at the pump here. That's just how the system works — prices get reset every single month instead of staying frozen for years.

It's not really about one month — it's a pattern

If you zoom out a bit, the last few months tell a much clearer story than just looking at August alone:

Back in April, May, and June, prices climbed hard — mostly because of regional tension and disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz, which is a major route for oil shipments. June actually got close to AED 3.95, which was rough for a lot of people. Then July gave everyone a bit of a break as things calmed down and crude prices dropped toward the low $70s. And now August has ticked back up again as Brent and WTI both climb slightly.

This up-and-down isn't random — it's the market doing exactly what it's supposed to do when prices are tied to global crude instead of being fixed by the government.

Who actually feels this

For a regular person filling up their car, honestly, the difference between AED 3.60 and AED 3.80 barely registers — maybe six or eight extra dirhams on a full tank. Not a big deal.

But it hits differently for businesses. Trucking and logistics companies burning through thousands of litres a month feel every 20-fils bump multiplied many times over. Construction sites running generators all day see it show up directly in their costs. Delivery services sometimes end up adjusting their own pricing just to keep up with these monthly shifts.

That's why a lot of commercial fuel users don't just wait for the monthly AED announcement anymore — they're watching Brent and WTI crude prices themselves, because those move first and basically tell you what's coming next.

What's likely next

With both crude benchmarks nudging upward right now, there's a decent chance diesel prices either hold steady or edge up slightly next month — unless something shifts on the global supply or geopolitical side. The official rate for September gets announced on the last day of August, like clockwork.

For now, AED 3.80 is the number to plan around. But as always with UAE fuel prices, that number's really just one crude oil headline away from changing again.
