Leveraging its overseas social media network, the Quzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism has officially launched the “Global Voices of Quzhou” international promotional campaign. Through bilingual short videos, the campaign invites friends from China and abroad to share their impressions of Quzhou’s Song Dynasty heritage, Confucian traditions and vibrant local food culture. As part of the campaign, guests from several countries explored Quzhou’s ancient city, visiting the Shuitingmen Historical and Cultural District and the Confucius Ancestral Temple of the Southern Lineage while sampling a variety of local specialties. Each guest appeared on camera speaking both Chinese and their native language to share their experiences in Quzhou.

The group’s first stop was the Shuitingmen Historical and Cultural District. From the ancient city wall, they admired the picturesque view of Tianwang Pagoda and the Xinan River. The district’s three streets and seven lanes were steeped in historic charm, while the enticing aromas of local delicacies filled the air. The visitors sampled charcoal-baked Quzhou flatbread, the famous “Three Heads and One Palm,” mint crystal cakes, Longyou steamed rice cakes and other local specialties, immersing themselves in western Zhejiang’s distinctive spicy flavors and lively street culture. As night fell, the illuminated ancient pagoda and riverside lanterns reflected beautifully on the water, creating an enchanting atmosphere.

After enjoying the flavors of the old city, the group continued to the Confucius Ancestral Temple of the Southern Lineage. One of only two surviving Confucius family ancestral temples in China, the site bears witness to more than 800 years of history following the southward migration of the senior branch of Confucius’ descendants. Its red walls, ancient cypresses, stone inscriptions and statues of Confucian sages all tell stories of the enduring traditions of rites and music. As the visitors strolled through its courtyards and listened to stories about Confucian rituals and etiquette, they gained a deeper understanding of the cultural spirit embodied by Quzhou’s reputation as the “Southeastern Home of Confucius” and its identity as “a city of courtesy.” On one side was the bustling everyday life of the ancient city; on the other, a serene and profound cultural legacy spanning a thousand years. This harmonious blend of vitality and tranquility perfectly reflects Quzhou’s distinctive character.

During the tour, the international guests shared their thoughts on camera: “The scenery here is beautiful, the food is delicious, and I’m having a wonderful time in Quzhou!” “I was deeply impressed by the culture of Confucius’ Southern Lineage. Everyone is welcome to visit Quzhou!”

Looking ahead, Quzhou Culture and Tourism will continue to introduce multilingual ancient-city tour routes for international visitors. Through short videos, images and written stories, it will showcase the culture of Confucius’ Southern Lineage, the Song Dynasty charm of the ancient city and Quzhou’s distinctive local cuisine, sharing with the world the city’s refined yet vibrant appeal.
