ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet vs AirSense 10: Which One is Better?
The ResMed AirSense 11 was designed to eventually replace the long-running AirSense 10, but that doesn't automatically mean it's the right choice for every user. Here's a clear comparison of how the two machines differ, and when it makes sense to stick with the AirSense 10 versus upgrading.
Design and Interface
The AirSense 10 uses a button-based interface with a straightforward, familiar layout that many long-term users appreciate for its simplicity. The AirSense 11 replaces this with a full touchscreen display, along with a sleeker, more compact housing — it's lighter and slightly smaller than the AirSense 10, making it a better fit for travel bags and smaller nightstands.
Therapy Algorithm and Comfort Features
Both machines use ResMed's trusted AutoSet algorithm to automatically adjust pressure based on breathing patterns, and both deliver strong, effective therapy. The resmed airsense 11 autoset, however, includes some refinements not found on the AirSense 10:
- Built-in AutoSet for Her mode – on the AirSense 10, this required purchasing a separate "For Her" model; on the AirSense 11, it's built into every AutoSet unit as a selectable setting
- Auto Ramp – the AirSense 11 can automatically detect sleep onset and gradually increase pressure, a feature the AirSense 10 doesn't offer
- Adjustable comfort response settings – letting you choose between soft and standard pressure ramp-up styles
Guided Setup and Support Tools
One of the more significant differences is aimed at new users. The AirSense 11 includes Care Check-In prompts and a Personal Therapy Assistant to help first-time CPAP users adjust to therapy in the early weeks — tools the AirSense 10 does not offer.
Humidification and Accessories
Both machines support humidification and heated tubing, but most parts are not cross-compatible between the two models. Humidifier chambers, power supplies, and some tubing connectors differ, so if you're upgrading from an AirSense 10, expect to purchase new accessories — including a new ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet heated humidifier — rather than reusing your existing ones.
Noise Levels
Both devices are considered among the quietest CPAP machines available, with very similar sound output. If noise level was a concern with your AirSense 10, the AirSense 11 won't offer a dramatic improvement in this specific area — the real gains are in interface, comfort settings, and onboarding support.
App Connectivity
Both the AirSense 10 and AirSense 11 connect to ResMed's myAir app for tracking therapy data, so this isn't a differentiating factor between the two.

Should You Upgrade?
- Stick with your AirSense 10 if you've been using it successfully for a year or more, your pressure needs are stable, and you're comfortable with its interface — it remains a reliable, trusted machine.
- Choose the AirSense 11 AutoSet if you're a new CPAP user who would benefit from guided onboarding tools, want the AutoSet for Her mode without a separate device, or simply prefer a more modern touchscreen interface and compact design.
