The Rangers have been one of the NHL's best teams since mid-December, while the Panthers have experienced some growing pains over the past few weeks. Florida's young team hung around the playoff picture for a while, but the top eight teams in the East are pulling away. The Panthers are currently eight points out of the last wild-card spot and it does not appear that they have the scoring to make up that kind of deficit. But every game is a test for this young group. The Rangers will provide a tough one. New York currently sits in the third spot in the Metropolitan Division, just ahead of the Washington Capitals. They have a good chance to gain some ground with a win Monday and have been very comfortable on home ice Patrick Bond Jersey this season. Pick: Rangers 3, Panthers 1 Both the Jets and Flames have been overachievers this season and both currently sit in wild-card position in the Western Conference. The two sides haven't met since mid-October, when the Flames earned a 4-1 win as they got off to an incredibly hot start to the season. The Jets are currently mired in a three-game losing streak, but still hold a three-point advantage over the Flames. Calgary, however, can leap into the third spot in the Pacific Division with a win Monday, dropping the Vancouver Canucks to the wild-card position. So this is a pretty big game on all fronts. The Jets have been a stronger team on the road, which could help their cause, but these teams would appear to be pretty evenly matched overall. Winnipeg has been the better of the two teams when it comes to po se sion, but the Jets are going to need the goaltending to be strong against Calgary's deadlier offensive lines. It's going to be a tough matchup for both of these wild-card clubs. Pick: Flames 4, Jets 3 The Oilers and Sharks will clash for the fourth time this season in this Pacific Division matchup. The Sharks have won two of the previous three, but the Oilers have typically played them pretty tough this season. San Jose has the advantage of playing in the Shark Tank Monday night, where it has won 14 of 25. The Sharks are currently in second place and trail division leader Anaheim by 10 points. They are also riding a three-game winning streak, so it's going to be a tough one for the lowly Oilers. Edmonton doesn't look like it's going to catch the Buffalo Sabres in the futility race this season, but the Oilers are still in great position to nab one of the top three picks in the draft. The players aren't rolling over, but there's still a long way to go in this rather dreary season. Pick: Sharks 5, Oilers 2 1. , San Jose Sharks: Pavelski is on pace for another 40-goal season and he has been really strong against the Oilers over his career. He has 13 goals in 34 games, including two this season. After being held off the scoresheet for the first time in four games against in his last tilt, expect Pavelski to get right back on track against Edmonton.2. , Calgary Flames: One of the top rookies in the NHL this season, Johnny Hockey has been dazzling with 37 points in 49 games. He had a goal and an a sist against the Jets the last time the two teams met and has only been growing in confidence since the early portion of the season. 3. , New York Rangers: Expect the quest for 50 goals to continue for Nash against the Panthers.
